Who Cares? Launch of project to hear from paid carers
Paid carers play a vital role in supporting people in our communities every day. They help people live with dignity, independence, and comfort — yet their voices are not always heard when services are designed or improved.
This project aims to change that.
Who cares? We do.
Why we’re doing this work
As part of our legacy, we want to make sure that the experiences of paid carers help shape the future of adult social care locally.
We want to understand:
- what helps carers provide good care
- what challenges they face
- how supported and valued they feel
- what changes could improve care in Wakefield District.
How to take part
We are inviting paid care workers in Wakefield District to share their views by completing a short, anonymous survey.
- Takes 5-10 minutes
- Completely anonymous
- Open to all paid care workers
- Option to enter into a prize draw for one of our £25 ‘Lifestyle’ vouchers which can be used at 500+ brands
Take part in the survey here: www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/WhoCares/
Survey closes 30 April 2026.
We will also be holding small, informal one to one conversations with paid carers who would like to share their experiences in more detail. If you would like to do this, details are included in the survey. You can do this face to face or on the telephone. We expect these conversations to last 30-45 minutes. If you are asked to take part in this way, you will receive a £30 ‘Lifestyle’ voucher.
Your voice matters
Care workers see every day what works well — and what doesn’t. Your insight is essential in helping improve care for people across Wakefield District.
All feedback will be brought together into a report with recommendations, which will be shared with you, along with:
- Wakefield Council Adult Social Care
- NHS and Integrated Care Board partners
- Care providers
